The Eastern Columbia Building is unmistakable for its glossy turquoise terra cotta tiles and the four-sided clock tower rising above its roofline. This thirteen-story Art Deco tower at eight hundred forty-nine South Broadway opened on September twelfth, nineteen thirty, after a swift nine-month construction period. Architect Claud Beelman designed the building as the headquarters and flagship store for the Eastern and Columbia retail companies, which were managed by Adolph Sieroty.
