The Continental Building, originally known as the Braly Building, stands out for its ornate Beaux-Arts façade, featuring terra cotta detailing, pediments, and projecting lion heads. Designed by architect John Parkinson and completed in nineteen oh four, it is widely recognized as the first skyscraper in downtown Los Angeles. At one hundred and seventy-five feet tall, the structure was built just before the city council enacted a one hundred and fifty-foot height restriction in nineteen oh five.
