Million Dollar Theater

The Million Dollar Theater is defined by its ornate, twelve-story facade featuring lavish Churrigueresque stone carvings. Sculptor Jo Mora designed the exterior with eccentric figures, including bison heads, longhorn skulls, and girls dangling their legs over the street while playing instruments. Opened in nineteen eighteen at the corner of Third Street and Broadway, it was the first movie palace built by the famous entrepreneur Sid Grauman.
