The Orpheum Theatre

The Orpheum Theatre on South Broadway is identified by its gray terra cotta Beaux Arts facade, which features winged helmets and a series of griffins along the cornice. It opened on February fifteen, nineteen twenty-six, as the fourth and final home for the Orpheum vaudeville circuit in Los Angeles. Architect G. Albert Lansburgh designed the twelve-story building to be the grandest in the chain, incorporating a two-story foyer and an auditorium with cast plaster detailing, stained-glass rosettes, and immense chandeliers.
