The Jerry Garcia Amphitheater is a Greek-style outdoor bowl set into the landscape of McLaren Park. It is distinguished by its stage, which features a sounding board made of concrete linear trough forms arranged in an incomplete hexagonal plan. Originally constructed by the city in nineteen seventy, the venue opened in nineteen seventy-one as the McLaren Park Amphitheater to provide a public performance space with tiered wooden seating for seven hundred and extra capacity on the surrounding grassy berms.
