India Basin Concrete Letters

The India Basin Concrete Letters are a collection of eighteen large, individual sculptures that once formed a gateway sign for the India Basin Industrial Park. Designed by local artist and designer Michael Manwaring in nineteen seventy-eight, these three-dimensional characters were cast in concrete using the Helvetica typeface. Rather than forming a traditional, flat sign, Manwaring created them as independent sculptures to avoid the unwelcoming feel of a solid wall.
