La Casa Community Health Action Center occupies a long-standing building at three one six six Mount Pleasant Street Northwest. The structure began as a simple nineteenth-century dwelling before expanding with a storefront addition, and it has functioned as a community space for decades. In nineteen seventy-four, it housed a life skills center designed to offer education and resources to new arrivals in the neighborhood.
