Saint Mark United Methodist Church of Atlanta

Saint Mark United Methodist Church is defined by its exterior of rough-hewn Stone Mountain granite, a material that gives the building a distinct, sturdy presence in Midtown Atlanta. Constructed between nineteen oh two and nineteen oh three, the church follows the Gothic Revival style, featuring a prominent triple entrance portal and tall, pointed lancet-arched windows. Architect Willis F. Denny designed the structure to accommodate a growing congregation that had moved from a location further north on Peachtree Street known locally as the Tight Squeeze, a name earned from the area's history as a narrow, dangerous pass for travelers.
