Fox Theatre

The Fox Theatre is distinguished by its massive, eclectic brick exterior, featuring a towering copper onion-dome crowned with an Islamic crescent, and a one hundred forty-foot entrance arcade that mimics the look of a desert palace. Originally conceived in nineteen twenty-seven as the Yaarab Temple, a lavish headquarters for the Shriners, the project proved too expensive for the organization to finish on its own. They entered a partnership with movie mogul William Fox, who leased the auditorium to turn it into a grand movie palace.
