USS Arizona Memorial

monument

The USS Arizona Memorial is a white concrete structure that stretches one hundred eighty-four feet across the harbor, sagging in the center while rising at both ends. It floats above the sunken hull of the battleship USS Arizona without touching it. This memorial marks the final resting place for over nine hundred of the one thousand one hundred seventy-seven sailors and Marines who died aboard the ship during the Japanese attack on December seventh, nineteen forty-one.
