Northwest Quimby Street is part of the Alphabet District, a neighborhood where streets were once named simply with letters before they were changed in eighteen ninety-one to honor local pioneers. The street takes its name from L.P.W. Quimby, a state game warden and trucking company founder who became one of many figures memorialized during the city's street-renaming project.
