Lovejoy Columns

The Lovejoy Columns are recognizable by their heavy concrete forms and hand-painted, whimsical figures of Greek gods, owls, and lions. These two pillars, standing within a plaza on Northwest Tenth Avenue, are all that remain of a once-sprawling viaduct that spanned the rail yards of Portland from nineteen twenty-eight to nineteen ninety-nine.
