Multnomah County Central Library

The Multnomah County Central Library occupies an entire city block in downtown Portland, defined by its Indiana limestone base and a series of oversized, arched windows that wrap around its three levels. When it opened in nineteen thirteen, the building was heralded as a masterpiece by local architect Albert E. Doyle, designed in a Georgian style that prioritized simplicity over the ornate trends of the era.
