The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry occupies a seventeen-acre site on the east bank of the Willamette River. The complex consists of a massive glass-walled lobby and museum halls built around the shell of a former sawdust-fired power plant. The original smokestack and turbine buildings remain integrated into the contemporary structure. Moored at the adjacent pier sits the United States Navy submarine USS Blueback.
