Source Fountain

The Source Fountain is a small, brick-faced structure located on the Second Avenue pedestrian mall. Known to some locals as the Chimney due to its distinctive brickwork, it was completed in nineteen sixty-eight as the first stop in the Portland Open Space Sequence. This series of four connected parks and plazas, designed by Lawrence Halprin and Associates, represented a new approach to urban design intended to bring play and naturalistic water features into the heart of a city.
