Cathedral of Learning

The Cathedral of Learning is a forty-two-story Late Gothic Revival skyscraper that serves as the centerpiece of the University of Pittsburgh campus. Clad in Indiana limestone, the tower rises five hundred thirty-five feet, making it the tallest educational building in the Western Hemisphere. Its most striking interior feature is the Commons Room, a massive, four-story study hall filled with stone arches that were designed by architect Charles Klauder to support their own weight.
