Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is defined by its massive glasshouse, a Victorian-style structure where glass panes cover nearly the entire facade. Nestled in Schenley Park, the conservatory began as a gift to the City of Pittsburgh from steel and real-estate magnate Henry Phipps Jr. It opened to the public on December seven, eighteen ninety-three, following a year of construction by the greenhouse manufacturer Lord and Burnham.
