LBJ Presidential Library

museum

The LBJ Presidential Library is a ten-story, rectangular monolith clad in cream-colored Italian travertine that rises from the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Designed by architect Gordon Bunshaft, the building is distinguished by its stark, unadorned exterior and surrounding pools of water, which provide a sharp contrast to the surrounding landscape. Inside, the Great Hall features a ceremonial staircase and a four-story, glass-encased view into the library's vast archives, which hold forty-five million pages of documents and thousands of hours of presidential recordings.
