Ye Olde Curiosity Shop

Ye Olde Curiosity Shop is distinguished by the massive, weathered whale jawbones often seen near its entrance and a front window packed with taxidermy, specimen jars, and historic curiosities. Founded in eighteen ninety-nine by Joseph Edward Standley, the shop has occupied various spots along the Seattle waterfront for over a century, settling at its current location on Pier fifty-four in nineteen eighty-eight. Standley, known as Daddy Standley, originally built his collection by trading with sailors and travelers who arrived at the city’s docks from Alaska and across the Pacific.
