The Panama Hotel sits at the corner of South Main Street, defined by its five-story red brick facade and steep stairways. Built in nineteen ten, this building was designed by Sabro Ozasa, Seattle's first Japanese-American architect. It served as a vital center for the city's Nihonmachi, or Japantown, providing housing for immigrant workers and space for businesses, including the Hashidate-yu bathhouse in the basement.
