Hing Hay Park

Hing Hay Park is a zero point six four-acre public space in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, easily identified by a prominent, twenty-by-seventy-foot red metal gateway designed to resemble origami. Established in nineteen seventy-three, the park was built on a site previously occupied by three small buildings and a bank, using funds from a city bond initiative to provide much-needed green space for the neighborhood. Its name, which translates to Celebrate Happiness Public Park, reflects its ongoing purpose as a hub for communal gatherings and cultural festivals like the annual Dragon Fest.
