Jimi Hendrix Statue

A life-size bronze statue of Jimi Hendrix stands at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Pine Street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The sculpture depicts the Seattle-born musician on his knees, captured mid-performance while shredding on a Fender Stratocaster. Local artist Daryl Smith created the work in nineteen ninety-seven, basing the likeness on photographs of Hendrix taken during the nineteen sixty-seven Monterey Pop Festival. He wears the attire of that era, including a ruffled shirt, vest, and bell-bottom trousers.
