The Place Denfert-Rochereau is defined by the monumental copper lion that sits at its center, tense and alert, measuring over seven meters long. This sculpture is a one-third scale replica of a work in the city of Belfort, created by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi in eighteen eighty to commemorate the city’s defense during the Franco-Prussian War.
