Église Saint-Étienne-du-Mont

The church of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont is defined by its layered, three-pediment facade, a design that blends flamboyant Gothic details with Renaissance elements. Tucked on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, this building replaced a smaller chapel that once served the ancient abbey of Saint Geneviève, the patron saint of Paris. Construction began in fourteen ninety-two and spanned over one hundred years, finally finishing in sixteen twenty-six.
