Hôpital Tenon

The Hôpital Tenon occupies a trapezoidal site in the twentieth arrondissement, bordered by rue de Chine, avenue Gambetta, rue Pelleport, and rue Belgrand. Its primary entrance and main façade face rue de Chine. Behind this frontage, four distinct buildings stand perpendicular to one another, separated by three internal courtyards. This layout was specifically engineered to favor air circulation, a practice rooted in nineteenth-century hygienic theories intended to clear stagnant, disease-carrying air from patient wards.
