square Édouard-Vaillant

Square Édouard-Vaillant is a public garden defined by a collection of Second Empire structures, including a central music kiosk and a greenhouse modeled after larger glass houses from the late nineteenth century. Established in eighteen seventy-nine and originally named for the surgeon Jacques-René Tenon, it occupies the space between the twentieth arrondissement town hall and the Tenon Hospital. A bronze statue of the statesman Léon Gambetta stands within the greenery, relocated to this site in nineteen eighty-two.
