Temple du Marais

religious

The Temple du Marais is distinguished by a large, circular dome that rises above the surrounding buildings, a feature inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. Originally built between sixteen thirty-two and sixteen thirty-four as the convent church of the Visitation, the structure was designed by the architect François Mansart. Its central rotunda and Baroque facade served the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary, a Catholic order founded by Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal.
