Hôtel de Chimay

The Hôtel de Chimay sits along the Quai Malaquais with a symmetrical stone façade and large, arched windows that define its classical seventeenth-century appearance. Originally constructed in sixteen thirty-five as the Hôtel de La Bazinière, this residence underwent a major redesign by the architect François Mansart starting in sixteen fifty-three. Its name comes from the prince who purchased the building in the nineteenth century, long after it had served as a home for royal figures like Henrietta Maria of France.
