Place Furstemberg

Place de Furstemberg is defined by a central circular roundabout featuring an iconic five-globe lamppost. While often called a square, this space is officially a street that occupies the former site of the stables for the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Abbey. It takes its name from Cardinal Guillaume-Egon de Furstenberg, who served as the abbey's abbot in the late seventeenth century and oversaw the development of the residences surrounding this courtyard.
