Radlsteg

Radlsteg is a narrow, roughly one hundred nine-meter-long lane in Munich's old town, running between Westenriederstraße and the street known as Tal. Its name serves as a memory of a time when the path was not a paved thoroughfare but a simple wooden walkway crossing a city stream. To prevent horse-drawn carts from using this precarious bridge, authorities installed a turnstile, locally called a Radl—the Bavarian term for a small wheel.
