Samouelian Musical Instruments occupies a storefront at thirty-six Ifaistou Street in the Monastiraki district. It is recognized as the oldest music shop in central Athens, having operated continuously from this same address since nineteen twenty-eight. The business was established by Hovhannes Samouelian, who arrived in Greece after surviving the destruction of Smyrna. He carried with him the musical traditions of Asia Minor, using his skills to begin building and selling instruments to support his family in a new country.
