Dohány Street Synagogue

The Dohány Street Synagogue is identifiable by its twin octagonal towers, each topped with a distinctive onion-shaped dome that rises forty-three meters above the street. Designed by the Viennese architect Ludwig Förster and completed in eighteen fifty-nine, this building serves as the largest synagogue in Europe. Its facade displays a blend of Moorish Revival and Romantic styles, featuring horizontal bands of yellow and red brickwork that draw inspiration from medieval Islamic architecture in North Africa and Spain.
