Shri Mumba Devi

Shri Mumba Devi Temple is marked by a distinctive black stone idol of the goddess Mumba, often adorned in robes with a silver crown and gold jewelry. Tucked into the crowded markets of the Bhuleshwar area, this temple honors the patron deity of the original Koli inhabitants of the Seven Islands of Bombay. Mumbai itself derives its name from Mumba Devi, who represents the great mother, or Maha Amba.
