Gulab Sagar is a historic artificial lake distinguished by its symmetrical multi-level stone ghats, which create a terraced shoreline in the center of the old city. It was constructed in seventeen eighty-eight by Gulab Rai, a prominent figure in the court of Maharaja Vijay Singh, to replace an earlier, smaller water source known as a bawri.
