The Victoria Memorial is a vast, white Makrana marble structure that rises from the Maidan with a central dome topped by a revolving bronze Angel of Victory. Commissioned by Lord Curzon after the death of Queen Victoria in nineteen oh one, it was built between nineteen oh six and nineteen twenty-one to commemorate her reign as Empress of India.
