Mocambo Restaurant and Bar

Mocambo occupies the ground floor of a building on Mirza Ghalib Street, marked by an interior of deep red upholstery, dim lamp shades, and waiters in traditional uniforms that have remained largely unchanged since the restaurant opened in nineteen fifty-six. Founded by Shivji V. Kothari, the establishment was designed by a German architect named Messerschmidt and gained early recognition as one of the first nightclubs in the city, complete with a glass dance floor and live jazz music.
