Barkat Ali and Brothers occupies a space that began its life as a stable for British army horses within the Grand Hotel, now the Oberoi Grand, on Chowringhee Road. Established in nineteen ten by Barkat Ali and his brothers, Fazal Elahi and Karam Elahi, the shop moved from these equine origins to become a fixture for bespoke tailoring in Kolkata.
