The Asiatic Society at one Park Street is defined by its grand Neo-Classical facade and sweeping columns, a structure that has occupied this corner since eighteen oh eight. Founded on January fifteenth, seventeen eighty-four, by the British philologist and judge Sir William Jones, it was originally conceived as the Asiatick Society to promote systematic research into the history, languages, and sciences of the Asian continent.
