Raj Bhavan is distinguished by its grand neoclassical façade, which features a prominent central portico supported by six massive Ionic columns. Set within twenty-seven acres of gardens, this three-story mansion was originally commissioned as the Government House by Lord Wellesley, the Governor-General of India. Construction began in seventeen ninety-nine and finished in eighteen oh-three, replacing a rented residence on the same site.
