Toong On Church

The Toong On Church is a red and white building on Blackburn Lane that stands out for being a Chinese temple, despite the name often given to it by locals. Completed in nineteen twenty-four, it was built by Cantonese migrants who purchased the plot of land seven years earlier. The building is dedicated to Kuan Ti, a legendary warrior god of the Han Dynasty often portrayed with a red face and a long mustache.
