Located at fifty-four slash three College Street, this three-story shop has operated as a bookstore since eighteen eighty-six. Girish Chandra Dasgupta founded the business with an initial collection of only thirty-four books, envisioning a shop in the heart of Kolkata’s academic district. Over the decades, the store remained under the ownership of the same family, passing from Girish to his son Kshitish Chandra, then to Amulya Chandra, and currently to his great-grandson, Arabinda Dasgupta.
