Bab El Onsar

Bab El Onsar is one of the historic gates defining the northern edge of the old city of Chefchaouen. You can identify it by its distinct double-arched structure, which marks the boundary of the Onsar neighborhood. Built in the sixteenth century, this gate was part of an expanding defensive wall system designed to protect the mountain town as it grew to accommodate new waves of refugees arriving from Spain.
