Museumhuis Bartolotti stands out on the Herengracht for its ornate, curved facade, which features a stepped gable and distinctive orange bricks. Completed around sixteen twenty, this building was commissioned by the wealthy banker and merchant Willem Bartolotti van den Heuvel. He was born Willem van den Heuvel, but he took the name Bartolotti as a condition to inherit a massive fortune from his uncle, a businessman from Bologna.
