Café de Blaffende Vis sits on the corner of the Westerstraat and the Tweede Boomdwarsstraat. You can pick it out by the elaborate, often satirical displays that cover its facade during King's Day. While the building has housed a liquor store or café since around nineteen sixteen, it adopted its current name in nineteen eighty-eight. The origins of that name remain a mystery, as even the owners concede it could have been pulled from literature or simply invented on the spot.
