Artisplein

Artisplein is a public square defined by its signature brick-patterned paving, sitting immediately outside the entrance gates of the Artis Royal Zoo. Since its opening in twenty-fourteen, this space has served as a transition between the busy streets of Amsterdam and the zoo’s historical park. The square was created by demolishing old zoo buildings, such as the former Geological Museum and a conservatory, to establish an open, accessible connection between the city and the park grounds.
