Muiderpoort

The Muiderpoort stands on Alexanderplein as a neoclassical archway, distinguished by a prominent clock tower and stone friezes that decorate its exterior. Built between seventeen sixty-nine and seventeen seventy-one, the gate was designed by Cornelis Rauws to replace an earlier structure that famously slid off its foundation and collapsed into the soft soil of the city.
