Rachel Spring, known by the Arawa people as Whangapipiro, is a boiling alkaline mineral pool set within the grounds of the Government Gardens. You can identify the site by its fifteen-foot-wide basin enclosed by a four-foot-tall stone wall. The spring is silica-rich, and its waters have long been associated with skin-softening properties.
