The Rotorua Museum, known locally as Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa, is distinguished by its elaborate half-timbered facade, which makes it one of the most recognizable Elizabethan Revival buildings in New Zealand. It sits within the Government Gardens on land gifted in eighteen eighty by the Ngāti Whakaue people, with the specific intent that it be used for the benefit of all people of the world.
