Plac Wolności is a narrow, elongated rectangle in the center of Wrocław, characterized by its modern glass pavilions that lead to an expansive underground parking facility beneath the square. It sits directly alongside the historic Royal Palace, a connection that defined its layout for centuries. Originally established around seventeen fifty as a parade ground for Prussian kings, the space was known as the Exercise Square or Castle Square. It was specifically expanded between eighteen forty-three and eighteen forty-six so that royalty could observe military drills and performances directly from the windows of their palace study.
