The Museum of Innocence

The Museum of Innocence occupies a nineteenth-century house in the Çukurcuma neighborhood, distinguished by its deep red exterior on a sloping, narrow street filled with antique shops. It was created by the Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk as a physical companion to his two thousand eight novel of the same name. Inside, eighty-three glass vitrines correspond to the eighty-three chapters of the book, housing thousands of everyday objects that document the lives of the fictional characters Kemal and Füsun in Istanbul between the nineteen seventies and the early two thousands.
